Why we started Get Beyond Borders

While living in South Africa for a while, I noticed something. Many people, especially young adults, have a completely wrong impression of traveling through Africa. They think it's expensive, that it's all about safaris, and that it feels far away. But Africa is so much more than that.

Camping next to a waterfall. Hiking through nature where you're the only one. Jumping on the back of a motorcycle taxi and just seeing where you end up. Sharing a meal with a family you didn't know five minutes ago. Those are the moments that stay with you. Not the things you planned in advance, but exactly the things you didn't expect.

Meanwhile, we saw that most travel organizations work with fixed packages that are the same for everyone. Ready-made routes, the same stops, the same experience. Even though every traveler is different and has their own way of traveling.
